Our Farmer Florist
Bridget Sampson, our owner who oversees the gardens, grows many of the flowers for our wedding florals here in the raised bed farmette she built on the inn’s unusable old tennis courts. Speak to her about designing dreamy, seasonal, local florals for you.
From Seed to Bouquet
When Bridget and her husband, Galen, first spotted the English garden at Lambert’s Cove Inn, inspiration struck. It was a natural place to host weddings and events, to be sure, with its towering cedars and elegant setting. But despite the fact that it was dormant, Bridget knew it would be the culmination of her many years of work as an innovative gardener and florist.
Bridget’s vision has now been fully realized as she and Galen take over ownership of Lambert’s Cove Inn. Dahlia’s, a particular favorite, are the stars of the show, with supporting roles played by peonies, hydrangeas, and black-eyed Susans, depending on the season.
Bridget embraces natural, sustainable, and organic growing practices. She eschews using pesticides or commercial fertilizers, instead leaning into natural options. And she’s built partnerships with many other island farms and farmers, helping to support and enhance the economy and practice of sustainable agriculture locally.
Deeply involved in day-to-day operations, Bridget is a visible presence throughout the property. If you see her around, say hi. She’ll probably be the one with some dirt under her finger nails or a bouquet of fresh-cut flowers in her hands.
