Getting here is part of the tradition.
Getting to Martha’s Vineyard is part of the tradition. Riding the ferry transports your mind as much as it does your body. To get to Martha’s Vineyard, you’ll need to fly or take a ferry. There is no bridge.
Here are some important things to know and plan for:
Getting Here
If you are bringing your car, book your ferry tickets as soon as possible.
Ferries fill up quickly, so please make your reservations as soon as your plans are finalized. The Chamber of Commerce has an up-to-date list of all your ferry options.
Flights
The Martha’s Vineyard Airport has connecting flights from major regional airports. For more information, visit the airport’s website. You can also fly into Boston’s Logan Airport and take a bus to the ferry in Woods Hole or Hyannis.
Getting Around
Lambert’s Cove Inn is in a pristine, uncrowded part of the island. We are located on a winding road in West Tisbury, up-island, a 15-minute drive from the ferry in Vineyard Haven. Our area is considered the ‘gateway’ to the more rural side of Martha’s Vineyard.
If you have your car when staying with us, you’ll have easy access to the island. If you do not have a car, please know that we are off the beaten path, and you will need to use taxis, Ubers, and Lyfts to find your way around the island.
Car Rentals
We strongly recommend renting a car if you do not plan to bring one over with you. We recommend MV Auto Rentals. Contact them at 508-696-5300 or visit mvautorentals.com.
Public Transportation
There is an island-wide bus system with stops and routes in each town. Schedules and fares are available at vineyardtransit.com or call 508-693-9440. The nearest bus stop to the inn is across the street from Lambert’s Cove Beach. We’ll gladly drive you in our golf cart or you may walk or bike. Please be aware that our golf cart cannot travel on public roads after sunset.
Food & Dining
Aside from our restaurant, Foster, the closest restaurant or grocery store is two miles away in West Tisbury. We do not offer lunch, so we recommend making plans in advance for meals between breakfast and dinner.
A complimentary continental breakfast is included with your room. Our a-la-carte breakfast menu is also available.
We strongly recommend that you make dinner reservations for Restaurant Foster ahead of your stay as we can not guarantee availability. There are also many other fine restaurants throughout the Vineyard, and reservations are recommended for those too during the summer, as the island gets busy.
